Walking hand in hand with God, one day at a time, is a constant learning journey

Descriptive Innovation

Disruptive Innovation refers to making significant changes in organizations by improving products and services. In the educational field, disruptive innovation challenges traditional curriculum, methodologies, and knowledge transmission modalities and offers new learning alternatives.

Innovation  Proposal

An innovation proposal is a strategic plan that facilitates the development of new products or services that provide a unique solution to a problem. The solution may be more efficient than the current one or may have already existed. An innovative project may not necessarily solve a problem but rather improve the quality of life for individuals.

Technology in education

Technology has become an integral part of our lives, and it is essential to integrate it into education so that students can be better prepared for the future. The use of technology allows students to acquire digital skills, promotes digital literacy, and encourages the ability to adapt and pursue continuous learning.

Portfolio

A portfolio is a term of English origin which can be translated into Spanish as "portfolio". It is a handbag or suitcase used for carrying documents.

However, the term "portfolio" also refers to a compilation of works undertaken by an individual or a company throughout their professional career. Essentially, it can belong to both a creative individual, who uses it to compile their commissions, and a business, which uses it to present their work.

Cova And Eporfolios

"The COVA approach has transformed my perspective on learning. This model emphasizes taking charge of one's learning through self-direction, voice, and choice. An ePortfolio is a digital space that enables you to organize, document, and showcase your most significant learning experiences. Over time, e-portfolios serve as valuable tools for students' learning and present a dynamic product that can be visible to any audience worldwide."

Blended learning

As defined by Graham in 2006, blended learning is the integration of traditional face-to-face teaching methods with distributed learning systems. This type of learning's primary objective is to merge the benefits of remote and in-person teaching to achieve more efficient learning. By combining the best of both worlds, blended learning aims to provide students with a well-rounded learning experience.

Small Group Instruction

Small group instruction involves a small number of students, typically 2 to 6, to ensure that teaching is tailored to their needs. This approach is more effective than traditional classroom instruction, as students learn faster.

Station Rotation

The seasonal rotation model is a popular blended learning system that combines traditional theoretical classes with practical sessions and virtual activities. Unlike other blended learning approaches, the station rotation model occurs in a physical classroom, where students rotate through different learning modalities according to a fixed schedule. Typically, three learning stations are included:

1. Online Learning: Students can complete assignments or engage in activities online.

2. In-person Learning: Students participate in instructor-led activities in the classroom.

3. Group Projects: Students collaborate with their peers on creative projects.

Dual language

The dual language program is a type of education in which students learn academic content and literacy in two different languages. It is a model of education in which students who primarily speak English and students who primarily speak Spanish are combined in the same classroom and receive instructions and classes in both languages. Language learning is integrated into the academic aspect of the day's subject through activities and projects.

What your Why

Many influential people throughout history, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers, had one thing in common—they started with WHY. They understood that people will only support a product, service, idea, or movement once they understand its purpose.

In his book "Start With Why," Simon Sinek explains that the most successful leaders in the world think, act, and communicate in a unique way that is the opposite of what others do. He calls this idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework for building organizations, leading movements, and inspiring people. The underlying principle of this framework is that everything starts with WHY - the reason behind what we do.

Learning communities

Learning communities are local organizations that aim to promote educational transformation through participatory, practical, and egalitarian learning. They apply to all academic levels and involve people of different genders, cultures, and social situations. The communities are characterized by a decentralized and horizontal structure, where all members actively participate in training. This approach is based on the constructivist point of view of scientist Jean Piaget, who believes that learning is an active process. According to Piaget, knowledge is transmitted through exploration, reflection, and problem-solving. Constructive dialogue in these communities enhances the learning and coexistence of all students, leading to improved academic performance.

Professional development

Professional development is an ongoing process that extends beyond initial training and subsequent courses. Its goal is to establish modes of collective work that include individual reflection in the same setting where pedagogical practice occurs, which is the school. Professional development is the process by which teachers, either alone or with others, review, renew, and develop their commitment as agents of change. It helps them acquire and enhance their knowledge, skills, and intelligence.

Professional learning networks

Collaboration has been an integral part of my work and has significantly improved my performance. As a new teacher, it has helped me in solving many problems. Teamwork occurs when individuals with complementary skills work together on projects or tasks in a truly connected and collective way. The difference between collaboration and teamwork lies in the shared responsibility and joint effort, which leads to efficient processes, tremendous success, and better communication. Listening and learning from team members can help you achieve your goals while supporting others in achieving them. I encourage you to take advantage of the benefits of joining networks in your workplace, place of study, community, and staff. Some famous examples of such networks include Facebook, YouTube, Google, WhatsApp, and Zoom.

Installing 4DX

The Four Disciplines of Execution (4DX) is not just a theory but a set of practices that have been tested and refined in numerous organizations and by thousands of teams over many years. According to McChesney and Covey, the daily routine of any professional environment can become a blur or a whirlwind, making it challenging to achieve essential goals. 4DX provides a strategy to execute goals by creating a framework that focuses on motivation, accountability, and structure, even amidst the chaos of everyday life.

Action research plan

Action research is a research approach that involves investigating and solving a problem simultaneously. As the name suggests, it involves conducting research while also analyzing the steps taken during the research process. This approach is useful for researchers who want to take an active role in solving real-world problems.

Influencer Strategy

The Change Influence Model is a helpful framework for managing organizational change. When an organization starts behaving differently than in the past, it can be challenging to navigate the associated complexities of people, processes, and culture. This tool provides a scientifically validated guide to practically and effectively changing the mentality and behaviors of people within an organization.

Crucial conversations

Crucial conversations are the ones that have a significant impact on our lives. These conversations are different from normal ones because they involve divergent opinions, important factors, and intense emotions. Crucial conversations encourage open dialogue on topics that include opposing views at all levels, whether they are personal or professional.

Self-differentiated leadership

"Being a differentiated leader means that you are not emotionally attached or isolated from others. You have the ability to connect with people without letting their reactions dictate your emotions.

Self-differentiated leaders have a clear understanding of who they are, where they stand, and what they can do. They recognize the importance of setting boundaries and working with their team to establish and support healthy boundaries.

They can effectively communicate their identity and values without feeling stressed or anxious, which allows them to bring about positive organizational changes confidently and efficiently."

Implementation Online

According to Porter, innovation involves introducing new technologies, methods, and approaches that may initially appear unrelated. Innovation can take many forms, such as a new product design, production process, sales, training, and organizational strategies. This means that innovation can be integrated into any activity within the value chain. By doing so, companies can achieve long-term competitive advantages (Porter, 1993, p. 579).

Digital revolution

The digital revolution has significantly changed our society, our personal lives, and how we conduct business. The widespread adoption of digital technologies such as the Internet, mobile devices, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things has driven this change. These technologies have transformed the way we communicate, work, consume products and services, and interact with the world around us by enabling the digitization of information.

Learning theories

Learning theories aim to understand how knowledge, skills, and attitudes are acquired through the learning process, serving as the foundation for designing pedagogical strategies.

Literature review

A systematic literature review is a type of bibliographic review that aims to present a comprehensive summary of all available information on a particular subject in an unbiased and complete manner. To achieve this, the systematic review is conducted formally and meticulously, following a well-defined review plan and a sequence of steps. One significant advantage of a systematic literature review is that it allows other researchers to update the review in the future by following the same set of established steps.

Growth Mindset

The growth mindset is a crucial factor for success in our lives. It refers to the understanding that our talents and abilities can grow through determined effort. This contrasts with a fixed mindset, which believes that our abilities are predetermined and cannot change (Dweck, 2006, Chapter 1). Mindset scholars have found that people have a combination of mindsets; we have a fixed mindset for some things, while for others, we believe in mental growth (Dweck, 2015, p. 3).

FIXED MINDSET

GROWTH MINDSET

A fixed mindset is when we believe that we may not be capable of doing something or that our efforts may not yield the desired results in any aspect of our lives. As a result, we tend to shy away from challenges, give up too quickly, feel like our attempts are futile, and may even feel threatened by the success of others.

The growth mindset helps individuals realize they can achieve more by putting in effort and developing new skills to reach their goals.

The power of 'Yet.'

Among the numerous opportunities for growth and learning in the world, we strive daily to improve ourselves. This journey equips students with the skills they need to navigate the challenges they face in their environment.

But it's not just about developing these skills; it's about embracing the challenges that come our way. Students can overcome these challenges and achieve excellent results with perseverance and practice.

Focusing on a "yes, I can" attitude is an advantage in achieving your teaching goals and objectives. It demonstrates that you are adaptable and willing to evolve within the academic and daily life challenges you face.

Learning Manifesto

Abraham Maslow proposed in 1943 that our fundamental needs must be met before we can effectively learn. As educators, we recognize the vital importance of student learning. In today's fast-paced world, stress can significantly impact cognitive function, information processing, academic performance, and overall education. Therefore, we must assist in various ways, particularly as the world advances and digital learning becomes increasingly necessary for education.

As a teacher, I give my students personalized learning to adapt instruction to individual needs. Blended learning is a teaching model that combines face-to-face classroom instruction with virtual and online components to leverage both benefits. The "Day at a Time" is a pedagogical model with an attractive, deep, and relevant structure and design of the teaching-learning process. It transforms the teacher into an inquirer, researcher, facilitator, mediator, synthesizer of knowledge, and strategist when proposing evaluative activities to monitor students' performance.

Blended learning is beneficial when creating a flexible, engaging teaching environment accommodating diverse student schedules and preferences. It is also valuable for complex topics that require conceptual understanding and practical application. Blended programs are also helpful in reaching remote students or providing more cost-effective educational options.

Blended learning positively affects students by offering greater flexibility in managing their studies, promoting active participation through interactive resources, and adapting to diverse student preferences. It also allows students to take ownership of their learning journey, encouraging critical thinking. Research shows that combining multiple teaching models improves understanding, knowledge retention, and concept application.

The "Day at a Time" model is relevant because it generates a safe environment that respects individual and group processes. Effective teachers will find that blended learning applies many best teaching practices in a more student-centered environment (Anthony, 2019, p.43).

As a teacher, I give my students personalized learning to adapt instruction to individual needs. I can analyze each student's performance and provide customized recommendations and interventions. This individualized approach allows students to progress at their own pace, filling in knowledge gaps and providing additional support where necessary. The result is better comprehension and higher test scores than their peers in traditional classrooms.
