Action Research

In recent decades, innovation has burst into the educational field. Many schools and teachers are increasingly betting on innovative models. As a practical, innovative teacher, I focus on new proposals that concentrate their interest on student learning. The general motivation is knowing if what is done in the classroom works. What challenges do the combined learning model and dual languages in the classroom face?

Are students interested in learning under the blended learning method? What have the students learned? What opinions do students have about traditional learning? We immediately realize whether the model is effective or involves intensive study to face new challenges, constantly improving the quality of the teaching process and determining effectiveness.

My action research plan focuses on analyzing the blended learning environment; in rotation stations within the bidirectional dual language program in the classroom, students will be able to develop their skills and linguistic abilities that will allow them to understand and produce a language spoken and written, to be able to communicate interpersonally with others. Visit my Innovation Plan for more details on how I use the learning method.

In this action research study, explanatory (mixed methods) will be used: a survey in which educators measure student performance; based on the results of the evaluations, educators compare scores, plan improvements, and the research continues—carried out cyclically, seeing the oral and written results of the students to compare the data from previous years and see how they relate to real unemployment in blended learning.

This action research process (mixed methods) is divided into four phases, with steps in each stage. Specifically, when Action Research is applied at the school level, it can be an effective method to develop concrete diagnoses around specific problems; it can streamline communication relationships, facilitate the implementation and implementation of innovations, make exchanges between teachers and specialists more flexible, promote the development of learning-teaching strategies, evaluation procedures, motivation, discipline, and classroom management. Educators improve their practices and feel empowered as they move forward in planning, acting, developing and reflecting,

My INNOVATION PLAN  I have reviewed my first literature, added more content and updated my specific plan.

Reviewing the literature related to the research provides a deeper understanding of what the researcher will study. It helps the researcher know what to look for and understand the topic.

This will give teachers a broad perspective on implementing blended learning models and research on using blended learning specifically in primary school classrooms.

This literature review focuses on improving learning levels by implementing blended learning models and the station rotation model in my fluent bilingual (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) kindergarten students.

ACTION RESEARCH STAGES AND STEPS

Screen Shot 2024-04-27 at 7.37.37 PM.png
Give a full-paragraph overview of the reason behind your study here

The action research plan, a component of the planning stage, discusses what the researcher will do at each step of the action research process. This action research plan focuses on analyzing the blended learning environment. In rotating stations within the two-way dual language classroom program, students can develop their language skills and abilities that will allow them to understand and produce spoken and written language to communicate interpersonally with others.

Screen Shot 2024-04-27 at 7.38.33 PM.png

Students are surveyed and interviewed, the data is analyzed, and the results are communicated. It will be evaluated to determine if it is an effective digital learning tool. Action research allows educators to examine their teaching practices and determine which are effective and which need improvement. This action research study will use an explanatory mixed methods design. The goal of action research is to test, analyze, and improve. I will compare students' oral and written performance assessment scores. I invite you to see my Innovation Plan.

Action Research Outline

Action research is a process to improve educational practice. Its methods involve action, evaluation, and reflection. With this action research, I seek to gather evidence to implement practice changes. For more information, my publication outline is below Publication Outline.

Fundamental Research Question

In recent decades, innovation has exploded in the educational field. Many schools and teachers are increasingly betting on innovative models. As a practical and innovative teacher, I focus on new proposals for student learning. The general motivation is to know if what is done in the classroom works. What challenges do the blended learning and dual language model face in the classroom? Are students interested in learning under the blended learning method? What have the students learned? What opinions do students have about traditional learning?

Timeline

Some significant challenges for the blended learning model include a possible lack of motivation to engage with technology, inadequate training, technological issues, the need to adapt content for blended learning, and weakened relationships between students and teachers—pedagogical decision-making.

We immediately realize that despite the challenges of the model, it is crucial when we see that it is effective, improving the quality of the teaching process and determining the effectiveness of student learning in the classroom using the necessary tools. Students will be able to develop their linguistic skills and abilities that will allow them to understand and produce spoken and written language to communicate interpersonally with others. This Action Research Plan is aligned with a corporate learning path.

Explanatory (mixed) methods will be used in this action research study: a survey in which educators measure student performance. Based on the results of the assessments, educators compare scores, plan improvements, and continue research conducted cyclically, analyzing students' oral and written results to compare data from previous years and see how they relate to current unemployment in the country—mixed model.

This action research process (mixed methods) is divided into four phases, with steps in each stage. Specifically, when Action Research is applied at the school level, it can effectively develop concrete diagnoses around specific problems. It can streamline communication relationships, facilitate the implementation and application of innovations, make exchanges between teachers and specialists more flexible, and promote the development of teaching-learning strategies, evaluation procedures, motivation, discipline, and classroom management. Educators improve their practices and feel empowered as they move forward in planning, acting, developing, and reflecting.

The comparative action research method will be used; since blended learning in rotating stations within the bidirectional dual language program uses the traditional or technological approach, technology can help collect and analyze the data. These platforms will constantly collect information about student learning to compare the development of oral and written expression skills between the control group and the pilot group; this will help me focus on the needs of my students.

Measuring tools

The essential measurement tools to collect the data in this action research study:

Google Forms are widely used to create surveys easily and quickly, allowing you to plan, ask questions, and collect information efficiently. They allow us to include short answers, paragraphs, multiple selections, checkboxes, drop-down menus, linear scale, and multi-option grids. Compares performance assessment scores in oral and written expression of students who experienced blended learning and students who experienced traditional teaching and learning methodologies.

Summary Of The Literature Review
Screen Shot 2024-04-27 at 7.48.50 PM.png

The existing literature shows countless definitions for blended learning or b-learning. All of them combine, with different degrees of relevance, various notions such as theoretical approaches, technologies, modes of information delivery, complements to face-to-face activity, and roles of agents. (Coaten, 2003; Marsh et al., 2003; Graham, 2006; Hernández, Sánchez, Rodríguez, Caballero and Martínez, 2014), I have a standard composition of face-to-face and non-face-to-face modalities based on IT (Vaughan, 2010; Picciano, Dziuban, and Graham, 2014).

This literature review focuses on improving learning levels through implementing blended programs. Learning models and the station rotation model in my fluent bilingual (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) kindergarten students. This literature review focuses on helping students learn efficiently to achieve their objectives and goals while having choice, voice, and ownership throughout the process (COVA). Research Studies from Lamar University show that the COVA approach positively impacts students in the program (Harapnuik et al., 2018).

Similar ideas and concepts are observed regarding the definitions of b-learning. However, variations in how the elements are systematically integrated lead to the construction of countless models. Most research points to the overall effectiveness and advantages of the blended learning environment compared to traditional teaching and learning experiences provided the former is planned and implemented well. Students will be able to develop their linguistic abilities and skills that will allow them to understand and produce spoken and written language and to be able to communicate interpersonally with others. Visit my  Action Research Literature Review for more details on how I use the learning method.

Final reflection
Screen Shot 2024-04-27 at 7.49.26 PM.png

You will do weekly reflections that include observations between student evaluations and your own experiences. Another important aspect of this measurement method is that teachers will express their observations and experiences based on the questions generated throughout the session. Additionally, I would like to do monthly surveys distributed among teachers. I plan to obtain the data from the evaluations, which can be formal or informal.
