The future of education is becoming a digitalized learning environment where students can learn through various modern learning modalities that are enabled and powered by technology.
The role of technology in education has changed. Technology no longer serves a complementary function but is an integral component. Events in recent years have accelerated the use and integration of technology into all aspects of education, from how curricula are delivered to how students learn and connect
Additionally, technological advances have dramatically changed the modern workplace and work landscape. Global trends indicate success depends on vision, infrastructure, leadership, resources, stakeholder engagement, feedback/evaluation, professional development, communication, and a paradigm shift. To successfully implement Blended Learning, Station Rotation, and Two-Way Dual Language, all of these factors must be considered when planning innovation. If Blended Learning, station rotation, two-way dual language, and ICT in general have a place in education, the face of the education system must change. Technology alone cannot change the future, but what is done with it can. ICT has been a success and a failure, but Blended Learning, Station Rotation, and Two-Way Dual Language can succeed after applying lessons learned from global trends before implementation.
This trend in education focuses on helping students learn efficiently to achieve their objectives and goals while having choice, voice, and ownership throughout the process (COVA). Research studies from Lamar University show that the COVA approach positively impacts students in the program (Harapnuik et al., 2018). 21st-century skills, growth mindset, and STEAM.
