 Instructional Design in Online Learning

The instructional design process consists of determining needs, defining the goals and final objectives of the training, designing and planning the evaluation process, and designing teaching and learning activities to guarantee the quality of student training.

Designing instruction by creating teaching strategies refers to how teachers plan training to ensure students learn in a teaching ecosystem.

Online learning strategies are the foundation of the training project and where the learning methods and objectives will be set—with some element of student control over time, place, path, and pace. Teachers use the LMS (Learning Management System), Canvas, an online learning management system used by schools and institutions worldwide. It is a virtual tool to transmit knowledge, teach courses, or evaluate content that creates meaningful learning environments.

Furthermore, students' needs are different. Hence, online study techniques and virtual teaching strategies must also be different. This presents challenges as educators still need to apply appropriate learning theories.

In short, they are designing a new panorama that forces teaching to be planned entirely differently. Teachers must adhere to curriculum planning guidelines to ensure that the learning needs of all students are met; this allows instructors to provide specific and targeted feedback to students, helping them understand their strengths and areas of improvement concerning the learning objectives to help them develop a lifelong love of learning as critical thinkers and problem solvers.

One of the main benefits of planning the class is organization. It will help me generate a vision of the entire course. I will organize the time spent on each topic and the order of presentation of each topic better. I use blended learning in my classroom.

From the beginning of the lesson plan, I will decide what resources and tools I will use to implement the course and when I will use each option. Using Gagne's Nine Instructional Events will help me concentrate. In online classes, digital tools are essential because they allow students to understand the content, follow up on topics and evaluations, and ensure they have the necessary components for student participation and success.

As I develop an online course for Kindergarten students based on my INNOVATION PLAN and CSLE, I will document this ecosystem weekly on the blog.

As we tell our students, Process objectives can help you develop consistent habits that lead you to achieve your goal and excel after achieving the result you want in the development of this course.

Topic: Blended Learning Station Rotation Dual Language Language.

Instruction Level: Professional Development

Key Institutional Document: Vocabulary

Introduction: As part of the blended learning, dual language station rotation curriculum, students will study to improve their vocabulary and learn to communicate fluently in both languages.

Level Of Instruction: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Learning objective: Language teaching offers students the possibility of learning and perfecting both languages and officially certifying their knowledge from primary user to competent user. Students will create a structure with skills and strengths by communicating with academic vocabulary about facing the world. Implement verbal structures to speak about past, present, and future events and situations and recognize broad language. Different language learning methods include reading, writing, communicating, listening, and using technology effectively.

Desired results: Students will be able to communicate efficiently in both languages to understand frequently used phrases and expressions related to areas of experience that are especially relevant to them (basic information about themselves, their studies, and their families). To do this, they must acquire skills that allow them to use the language completely naturally to participate in all types of situations that require understanding, producing, co-producing, and processing a wide range of extensive and complex oral and written texts on topics. Mastery of another language enables access to other cultures and customs while promoting interpersonal relationships, guaranteeing the student comprehensive training and respect for other countries, and allowing them to understand their language better. Therefore, it facilitates communication and integration, which is essential for constructing a multicultural identity.

The course is entirely online and Outcomes Based Education (OBE). Instructional design aligns outcomes, activities, and assessments and meets academic standards.

Duration: Five Weeks/Modules

Audience: Kindergarten students

Outline - Please click here to complete the course outline.

Pre-planning: To begin developing a course, I started thinking about basic information to help me plan.

Applying Upside Down Design: Using the 3-Column Table And Ubd to Create Meaningful Learning Environments.

Learning theories: behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, connectivism. Watch the video Learning Theories (youtube.com)

Teaching style - teacher as facilitator, STREAM, COVA, digital learning, based on Constructivism and Connectivism (Teaching Philosophy)

Students: Kindergarten students at Springisd (Philosophy Of Learning)

How will you balance assessment or learning for/how? I will balance evaluations that provide feedback to both students and peers.

Are you moving your learners into deeper learning? If not, why not?

I will move learners into deeper learning, making everything enjoyable for better results. Also, it is essential to implement the COVA models, where students can choose their reading activities, and their voices can be heard.

Who controls the learning?

Themself. This means students will control their learning process, and the teacher will be there as part of the process, supporting them. Also, online resources/ activities it will give you options to select and control the learning process. In addition, it will be a great time to share opinions, experiences, ideas, and more.

Online Teaching Experience: I have experience with blended learning as a teacher and student, but I have only experienced one fully online course as a student. My experience with LMS is limited to Google Classroom and BlackBoard.

Technological Experience and Comfort: As a teacher, I use technology constantly and incorporate it when appropriate so my students can create rather than absorb it. (Digital Learning In the Classroom)

LEARNING GOALS

Fundamental: Students can use a wide range of vocabulary to identify and describe the grammatical structures related to different activities in other languages.

Application: Students will be able to communicate in different areas appropriately, coherently, and efficiently so that native Spanish speakers from Latin America can understand them.

Integration: Students will develop their critical thinking as participants in an intercultural society and share it in their video blogs.

Human dimension: Students share how their mindset has affected their learning and teaching abilities in an intercultural society

Care: Students will identify the importance of maintaining this learning process as a cultural heritage for future generations.

Learn to learn: Students will develop digital learning activities and growth methodologies in the classroom to help them identify which learning strategies are most effective. See My Implementation Outline.

Stage 1: Desired Results

The first objective is strengthening and maintaining linguistic skills to understand and interpret spoken language, write, read, listen, and think about different topics. Kindergarten students are intended to understand and comprehend both languages inside and outside the school environment through Phonological awareness, printed concepts, phonetics, and morphology to communicate, decode, and spell.

Stage 2: Evidence of evaluation

In this phase, it is necessary to identify three crucial points: What words will I use constantly and daily to reinforce and strengthen learning? Another critical point is to know how many words you recognize in the unit based on the activities to be implemented. Last but not least, the reflection that is sought with this, as well as the relationship that will exist in your daily life to remain as learners.

Stage 3 Learning Plan

My plan will be implemented through rotation stations, and I will establish three rotation stations; this model allows Kindergarten students to rotate through the stations on a previously established schedule, taking into account that one station will be online and is where we will have the blended training, both in person and online, among these rotation stations we have:

1. Both students and teachers guide the entire group to read the words we have established as frequently used; as a starting point, they will identify them and repeat them to achieve the established objectives.

2. At this station, students will work on dynamic and interactive activities; this will be done in small groups.

3. This station will be completely online. That is, the children carry out activities with Chrome, from readings for their level to various activities that will already be established for each day of the course.
